The Association offers visitors
to our city a program of guided tours through the St. Peter’s
and the Vatican
Together will visit St. Peter’s, the
largest and most important Basilica of the Christian world,
where visitors from around the world meet together to pray and
admire its treasures, from the collonade designed by Bernini,
to the Michelangelo’s Pietà, or the sculpted
canopy
of St. Peter’s tomb
…and we will enter the Vatican Palace, residence of the
Popes since the Renaissance. In the historical rooms, we will
get a close-up view of the frescos by Raphael that forever changed
the course of Italian art. We will also have access to the Sistine
Chapel: this magnificent space, with Michelangelo’s frescoes
of the stories of genesis on the ceiling and his Last Judgment
on the wall facing the altar, was originally intended as a private
place of prayer, and still serves as the hall in which papal
elections are held.
The palaces house also an immense museum, in which, over time,
have accumulated a great quantity of art and treasures that
unfold in a path through a thousand rooms, where works of ancient
art – such as the Apollo of Belvedere,
theLaocoon or
the Venus of Cnido – are side by side with masterpieces
of painting. In the Vatican Picture Gallery or Pinacoteca, you
will find paintings by Leonardo da Vinci,
Titian,
Caravaggio,
Raphael….
Thus, in our walking tour, we will orient you to all these areas,
seeking to help you fully understand a world that we studied
at University, chose as our profession, and that we continue
to explore every day with diligence and passion. |
